ABOUT

Moose Jaw R/C Club Executive

Sid Haubrick

President

About 1966, Len Treiber offered me a part time job working at his store, the Hobby Center. Now that I was earning some cash, I could buy my first gas powered flying model: a Cox PT19 control line trainer.

A year or so after that, I guess 1968, Len told me he was starting a flying club for model airplanes. I remember well the meetings and being at the very first one held in the basement of the Hobby Center. I was lucky enough to be there at the very beginning of the club.

Over the next 50 some years I drifted in and out of the club do to work and life commitments but always stayed in close contact with the club. My interests are with all types of aviation and of course all types of model aviation also.

I am enjoying serving our great club as President.

Please feel free to contact me if I can help in any way.

Mike Dolan

Vice President

I was always interested in radio control aircraft, but never had the opportunity until moving to Moose Jaw for Canadian Forces Pilot Training.

My wife bought me my first radio control aircraft for Christmas in 1973 and I joined the MJRCC shortly after that.

Flying radio control aircraft seemed like a natural follow on to flying larger real-world aircraft. As it turned out, it became an excellent hobby after retirement.

I have roughly 35 years of hobby flying and have flown all types of fixed wing aircraft from scale turbine powered aircraft to electric aircraft.

I enjoy the hobby and have motivated and helped many other aspiring fliers get started in the hobby!

Darcy Golding

Secretary

I have been a member of the Moose Jaw Radio Control Club since 2022.

I received my flight training on a Hangar 9 trainer and shortly after that I bought a similar plane to get more flight experience on the same style of aircraft. I have since added a Picanto dual option aircraft (high wing or Low wing), a SIG low wing plane and just recently a J3 Piper Cub, my first electric airplane.

I can't say enough about the support that I have received from other club members with either flight instruction or questions regarding my engines or electronics. This support has been the best and really helped in my knowledge of the hobby.

Kerry Olson

Treasurer

I began with my first purchased kit in 1984. Most aircraft I have stuck with are in the mid range .40/.60 two stroke size.

Throughout the years, I have taught a wide range of prospects.

I chair/organize the MJRCC display each year in conjunction with the Moose Jaw Thunder Creek Railroad Club (www.tcmrc.org/page_10785.html) show at the Moose Jaw Western Development Museum.

Dwight Chartrand

Wings and Safety

I have been a member since 1983.

My first airplane was a Sig Kadet with a .40 glow engine. This was long before ARF airplanes. My first aircrafts were more the sport or pattern types that used with many gallons of glow fuel to achieved an A through D or instructor rating.

Currently, I have mostly gas powered quarter and third scale fixed wing airplanes which include Chipmunk, Edge 540, Extra 330, and Paulistinha, the largest at 141 inch span. I also have small electrics like a Cub, Sukhoi, Beast, and a couple of quadcopters. My newest acquisition a Flex RV8.

So I guess my love of the hobby has peaked my interest and challenged me and changed over the years.

MJRCC is affiliated with MAAC (Model Aeronautics Association of Canada) and abides by it rules and regulations. It is my goal to keep as much as possible a safe environment for all members of the club, spectators if any, and the surrounding area of our field that is well placed within the city limits of Moose Jaw. Also it's my goal trying to keep alive the wings program for those who would like the challenge of progressing their flying skills.

We have a drone area for those interested, and a new RC car track.

We welcome those interested and encourage you to please contact us or come to the field to get more information about our club.
